About Us

Our main building is a purpose built demountable building which consists of one large and one small room, an office, a kitchen, child-sized toilets, and an accessible toilet. Access to our premises is through large gates on Brent Avenue.

We have an outside area which is securely fenced off from the school. We use the school playing field and playground on occasion. There is also an adventure play area belonging to the school which we have access to.

We currently have 12 members of staff. The ethos of the Preschool is all staff will be qualified to a minimum of Level 2(Certificate in Pre-school Practise) with the expectation of attaining Level 3 (Diploma in Pre-school Practise). Staff have completed an Enhanced CRB/DBS check and hold current First Aid qualifications.

We have a Special Needs Co-ordinators (SENCo). The role of the SENCo is crucial for early years settings in supporting early identification and intervention for children with special educational needs and will be a useful contact for you if you have any concerns about your child’s development.

Outside Area

Our outside area is accessible throughout the year, we have a canopied area providing outside play whatever the weather. Permanent resources include playhouses and a large climbing frame. Other resources are used as per curriculum planning and these include wheeled vehicles, pushchairs, sand and water play and a trampoline. We also have a large range of balls, hoops and a parachute. As we have access to the school field this gives the children the opportunity to explore a larger environment.

A committee is elected on an annual basis. The committee consists of three officers; Chair, Treasurer and Secretary plus other members to assist the officers. The Committee is drawn from parents whose children are attending or previously attended the pre-school. As a community based, voluntary managed setting we also depend on the goodwill of parents and their involvement. Membership of the setting carries expectations on parents for their support and commitment.

Costs are by no means covered by the fees, and enjoyable fund raising activities such as sponsored events fetes etc are organised by the committee and we would encourage and appreciate your support.

The Pre-school has a Manager and Assistant Manager who are responsible for the day to day running of the setting; ensuring standards are maintained to the requirements of Ofsted. (Office For Standards in Education) They report to the Committee who are responsible for the administration of the Pre School. Although the committee consists of a number of officers with specific roles, we also have fundraisers.
